Frontiers系列期刊是由教育部主管、由高等教育出版社主辦和出版、德國Springer公司海外發行的系列英文學術期刊，旨在集中高校科研優勢，凝聚國內科研力量，建設一個中國品牌的國際化學術交流平臺。

     Frontiers于2006年創刊，涵蓋基礎科學、工程技術、生命科學、人文社會科學眾多領域，是目前國內規模最大、覆蓋學科最廣的系列英文學術期刊，其中自然科學類16種（含2012年新刊1種），人文社會科學類7種，定位于各研究領域的最新學術成果和發展動向，及時反映重大科研成果。從2010年起期刊陸續縮短刊期，由季刊變為雙月刊、月刊。系列期刊在出版方式上采用單篇在線優先出版（Online First），保證文章以最快速度發表。后附期刊列表及具體創刊時間。

 　　系列期刊的學術質量和規范化運作在國際上得到較高認可，已陸續被國際索引評價體系收錄，如環境刊、數學刊、物理刊、計算機刊和地學刊已被SCI收錄；計算機刊為Ei核心期刊；醫學刊和蛋白質與細胞刊被Medline收錄；數學刊被Zentralblatt MATH和Math Review收錄；化工刊、地學刊被Chemical Abstracts收錄等。地學刊亦被收錄為中國科技核心期刊。Frontiers系列期刊中的物理刊、計算機刊和材料刊等15種自然科學類期刊已被CSCD（中國科學引文數據庫）核心庫收錄。

　　系列期刊執行嚴格的同行評議制度，編委會成員及評審專家日趨國際化，已獲取了越來越多的海內外高質量學術文章，逐步被海外學者所接受。截至2012年8月底，期刊全文在海外的全年下載總量已達百萬余篇。
